What is "Third Wave Coffee"
The first wave of North American coffee culture occurred when we all started drinking Maxwell House in our homes. The second wave began in the 1960's and included everything from Double-Doubles at Tim Horton's and Starbucks' Grande Lattes to the rise of regionally labeled coffee being offered at our grocers.
The third wave is all about the quality of the coffee and sourcing beans from specific farms, not countries, and meticulously roasting each bean in small batches to bring out its unique flavor. The third wave movement doesn't just end at selecting and roasting a great coffee bean. Chiasso's teams of baristas go through a rigorous training program to ensure each drink is executed perfectly. This training covers everything from achieving the optimal temperature of the milk to extract the perfect amount of sweetness, to perfecting the art of pouring the perfect Rosetta for your latte.
